Do you feel that even with exercise and diet you are far from reaching your fitness goals?
You are not alone. Even though we are more into fitness than ever, the programs we use are just not working well enough. Many are even dangerous and can weaken the body and make it prone to injury. Marv Marinovich, former conditioning coach for the Oakland Raiders and renowned sports trainer, and Dr. Edythe Heus, a chiropractor specializing in rehabilitating elite athletes, have developed ProBodX (Proper Body Exercise) to close this fitness gap. ProBodX is the only fitness and conditioning program that safely builds and tones muscle while increasing strength, flexibility, balance, and grace.
ProBodX was originally designed for professional athletes -- such as Jason Sehorn of the New York Giants and Steve Finley of the Arizona Diamondbacks -- looking to increase their level of athleticism and to avoid injury. In this book, the program has been designed for anyone who wants to improve athletic ability or simply get in shape and stay in shape without injury.
Essentially the ProBodX program combines unstable surfaces (gymnastic balls, slant boards, balance disks) with multiplane movement and strength loading (special hand and foot weights) to simultaneously stretch and strengthen the body. The result is a stimulated nervous system and increased speed, power, and flexibility.
Whether your interest is reducing body fat and increasing lean muscle, playing sports, or just maintaining a healthy body, ProBodX's unique balanced fitness program can help. In addition, the program includes a dynamic eating program based on Barry Sears's Zone Diet to truly jump start the body and see real results in four to six weeks.

For decades, coaches have sent athletes eager to improve their strength and performance straight to the gym to pump some iron. According to authors Marinovich and Heus, such advice couldn't be more wrong. "America's obsession with heavy weight lifting was actually training greatness out of athletes," they explain in this comprehensive guide to their conditioning and Zone-based nutrition plan, ProBodX. Unlike weightlifting, which can slow down athletes by burdening them with excessive muscles, and unlike yoga, which can needlessly over-stretch ligaments, ProBodX is supposed to improve flexibility, strength, endurance and mental stamina without provoking injuries. The key, according to Marinovich and Heus, is to engage the "nervous and musculoskeletical systems as a whole rather than as separate parts." Thus, their ProBodX exercises rely upon wobbly, free-floating equipment-such as gymnastics balls and balance disks-that force the body to use more than a few muscles at a time. Heus and Marinovich have the experience to know what they're talking about: he was once an Oakland Raiders offensive lineman and an NFL conditioning coach; she was a New York chiropractor who specialized in kinesiology. And their current roster of clients includes successful athletes like Chicago Bulls player Tyson Chandler and Olympian high-jumper Amy Acuff, both of whom appear in photographs throughout the book. Their exercises are amply illustrated with step-by-step b&w photographs. Despite the careful instructions, neophytes may still feel like they'd need a trainer to walk them through such exercises as the "Scissors," which involves twisting a knee to the ceiling while balancing a one's stomach on a giant gymnastics ball. But those who have the time and energy to learn a whole new way of exercising should find this volume well worth a try.

just like a car you buy or lets say in fitness
By Rob
Ok, I have read the book a few times. First cover to cover and then again without the Fwd as complained about here, then again with an open mind about the over use of "ProBodX in the text....
They are selling I say again SELLING a book and a system, just like a car you buy or lets say in fitness....SUPPLEMENTS that I am positive many of or all of the 1 star reviews here spend on. Im not here to bash a review or anything but if you want magic potions you should look into the magic pills for instant abs and a feel good pill with your "health care" provider. I don't remember the last time something was just BAM instant. As for the equipment, Planet Fitness 10 bucks a month and its garbage, Golds Gym 25-50 a month, some as high as 100 a month. Lets average about 50 a month that's 500 a year, not to mention the elliptical and Nordic track you have in the basement at 2k each....Just saying most people are well over 200 ish if you out right buy the stuff online.
That being said I made the equipment as listed here and it was outrageously expensive:
what do you need?
some plywood (free - 20 bucks)
4 inch pvc pipe (free- 6 bucks)
anti slip stuff ( be creative - 5 bucks)
duct tape ( prob already have it)
water bottles ( drink water to live..they can be empty)\
I used my dual bevel miter saw (500$) to cut my plywood(free) into 16x16 inch squares then used my clamps(50$) to hold them together. I took my wife's plate from the kitchen(plate set 250$ I used a good one) to draw a circle and used my jigsaw(200$) to cut them to circles. I used scrap 2x2x4 inch scrap to make the unstable surface and rounded it a bit with a belt sander (200$) then took my drill(250$) and some screws and attached the wobble part to the bottom.
WOW Ive already spent nothing on materials but thousands on tools.
If you cant see the sarcasm ill dumb it down. All this stuff can be made for FREE and some hand tools someone you know has. The hand weights can be made and filled with water or sand, the polls use broom sticks, the slant board...don't make me list it like I did the wobble disks.
As for the workout, read into the Marinovich history or Nick Curson and the people they have trained and the success they have had. Read into Sergei Bubka and the plyo/balance work one of the most explosive athletes in history did to hold world records for 20 years. Look at what the top athletes do and you may start to understand the science behind this. Those of you that say they are elite...low impact is VERY good for long term health and fitness.
BE OPEN MINDED AND TRY.

A great method you won't find anywhere else
By Joshua Leeger
I've gone through this program several times and always benefited. Now I'm recovering from ACL surgery and will go through this program again. This type of work and the approach are incredibly important and I haven't seen them replicated anywhere else. Thanks go to Edythe Heuss and Marv Marinovich for producing this method.

A great unorthodox way to achieve sport specific fitness.
By Einstein
I chose this rating as I have a background in fitness science and the exercises in this book are unorthodoxed in movement which I highly believe in for proper body fitness and sport specific exercises. The belief in heavy weight strength training is over rated and makes the pro athlete stronger, but more slower and accessable to injuries in power and force that is generated were with probodx the athlete gets unstable training which provides strength and flexability in all there muscle groups instead of just certain mscles being trained. I highly recommend this book for any person training to one day preparing to become a professional athlete,no matter what you maybe traiing for.
