About the Author
Andrew M. Pomerantz (BA, psychology, Washington University in St. Louis; MA, Ph D, clinical psychology, Saint Louis University) is professor of Psychology and director of the Clinical Adult Psychology Graduate Program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses related to clinical psychology and maintains a part-time private practice of clinical psychology in St. Louis. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Indiana University School of Medicine Psychology Training Consortium. He is the author of Clinical Psychology: Science, Practice, and Culture (3rd Edition, SAGE, 2013) and Psychological Assessment and Report Writing (with Karen Goldfinger; SAGE, 2010). He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Psychology, Ethics & Behavior, and the Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy. He served two terms as president of Psychotherapy Saint Louis and is a member of the American Psychological Association.

Met Expectations

I bought this textbook for a class, and it arrived quickly and was a good price. I am actually somewhat surprised at the material in the textbook. A lot of it focuses on the practice itself, which I think is an interesting take, as every other psychology textbook I have read focuses primarily on the "big names" in research.

Easy to read and organized well. I always wonder how current textbooks are and if they provide information that accurately represents scientific consensus. This one seems to get most information correct and seems fairly objective when comparing psychological sub-disciplines.

It is a visually stunning book which people will want to keep or buy as gifts. It is small enough to be easily taken along as a practical guidebook, yet so artistically designed, withy more than 170 beautiful color photographs and 10 attractive maps, that it will also be cherished as a coffee table book or memento of the wine country visit. The book has no advertising and is an independent guide for visitors.

Easy reading, full of useful information, and photos that make you want to visit these wineries. A useful guide for travelers, a worthy addition for your coffee table, or a way to record memories of a tour to the Cape Wineries. My copy is on my coffee table.

About the Author
Phillip B. Sparling is a Professor of Applied Physiology and Health Behavior in the College of Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). He received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and masters and doctorate from the University of Georgia. In addition to being a teacher and researcher at Georgia Tech for three decades, he has been a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Cape Town Medical School in South Africa, a Senior Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, and a Visiting Research Professor in the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland in Australia. He has published some 70 peer-reviewed articles in scientific and medical journals. Dr. Sparling is a Fellow of the AAHPERD Research Consortium, American College of Sports Medicine, National Academy of Kinesiology, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine. His current work focuses on real-world projects that enable individuals and communities to change lifestyle behaviors to prevent and control chronic diseases.

Kerry J. Redican is a Professor of Health Education and Health Promotion in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. His education includes a bachelors degree from California State University at Long Beach, M.S. in health education from the UCLA School of Public Health, Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and MPH in health administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a faculty member at Virginia Tech for over two decades, he has been actively involved in development, implementation, and evaluation of health education programs in schools and communities. He is a co-author of four textbooks and has over 60 publications in health journals. Dr. Redican is a Fellow of the American School Health Association and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association for Health Education and as President of the Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.

Yes, please.

The other reviews of this story are correct. It is a wondeful read, and simply too short. Although I did like the unexpectedly cut-off ending, I would like a Resurrecting Jessica II. It's clearly fantasy-fiction, and very simple at that; this is not in any way a serious endeavor of transgenderism, it's rather like candy; just for fun. Written in *very* simple language common of erotica, this non-erotica short story is dramatic at first with sorrow, and immediately after hilarious and light-hearted for the rest of the adventure. I loved it. Want more. I could have taken off one star for the length, but decided to add it back for my pure enjoyment and to support the genre and its authors.

Hard to believe

The main challenge of any MTF transformation is to make it believable, if you don't believe it then it doesn't work. That is what happens with this story.

Even though there is a "magic transformation", the conditions for it to happen are too simplistic. Would anyone accept being changed of sex without a minimal resistance (at least at the beginning)?

My other thought is that we don't get to know Jessica once she is resurrected. When she comes back the book ends, which is very disappointing.

Great story line. But a bit weak in the area of real passion. I loved the beginning, but the ending came up really off the wall to me. The author made the main character seem like a really loose cannon at the end. This is a good read but not a real page turner.

Scorching Hot Stories!!

I'm a huge fan of paranormal erotic romance and so I didn't hesitate to grab this anthology of erotic stories by Julianne Reyer. Let me begin by saying that I am SO glad that I did! First of all, this is a full collection of paranormal erotic stories so you aren't just getting one story but a complete bundle of naughty werewolf erotic romance shorts. Second, every story is very well written with a solid plot and oh-so hot (if you are a fan of feverishly hot sex scenes you will be VERY satisfied with these stories!).

The two main characters, Lacey and Mark are more than interesting - they really keep you engaged so you feel as though you can never get enough. The sexual chemistry between these two is nothing short of electric and while some of the stories feature Mark as a total dominant alpha male, other scenes allow Lacey's fantasies to become a reality, and boy are they wild and naughty!

My favorite story in the collection? It's hard to say because I truly enjoyed them all but if I had to choose just one I'd have to go with "Threesome with the Wolfman" . If Lacey and Mark aren't enough for you, let me introduce Cole, a gorgeous rancher who is more than willing to explore the pleasures of a no-holds-barred threesome with the deliriously hot couple.

Lacey has a secret she doesn't want her new husband, Mark to know: he's a werewolf. And he turned her into one, too. Throughout a series of interconnected, highly-erotic stories that add up to a fabulous novel, we learn about this fascinating couple.

This story takes the typical paranormal romance and turns it on its head, starting with the fact that these are married werewolves, with the wife being turned into one by her husband -- without his knowledge. A threesome encounter with handsome, non-judgmental Cole is definitely the best chapter in the book. If you like intense, powerful menage -- this is your book.

Add in a missing Lacey, FBI agents who aren't what they seem, and you get a hot adventure novel as well. There's a little bit of everything here and it's all done so well. The writing is strongly evocative. I felt like I was standing there in the room, watching events unfold. I'll definitely buy more from this author, and I look forward to reading more.

Without giving more away will say I really loved the intrigue and the other characters that come into the story.
If you like werewolf tales you will love this story!!! Hot sex, menage and sharing, but no m/m.
My first with this author but looking forward to her other works now......LOVED this story!!!! FIVE STARS!!!!

"Part II: The Secret" explores the private, painful stories of the family and ends with the parents' divorce. "Part III: A Dime a Dozen" explores identity and culture. Grimes's carefully crafted word placement matches the rhythms and messages of the poems. In "Stroll," words are offset from the left margin, symbolizing the protagonist's individual pace, which is unique and different from that of her mother. From protecting oneself from the risks of love in "Foster Home," to a daughter's yearning for her mother's pride in the title piece, emotion flows through these verses. The melodic rhythms gracefully sing when read aloud. Enjoyable Sequel - Still love these characters

This is a sequel to Blood Howl, and it's recommended to read Blood Howl first. You'll get a lot more out of the characters of Jed and Redford and understand their progression more.

I enjoyed this book a lot, but I also enjoyed Blood Howl. The one has more plot and is much longer, which is a nice change since many books in this genre rarely get over 250 pages.

I love the dynamic between Jed and Redford in both books. I'll admit--they're pretty "schmoopy"/internally gushy in this one. It felt like 85% of their thoughts were about each other, but to be honest, I didn't mind at all. (Even Jed gets to his version of schmoopy, which still involved lots of swearing and lewd comments, but that's just his rough and often hilarious fa�ade.) It's nice to read more "established" couples or couples shifting towards establishment as they sort out their issues beyond the "Let's get together" decision. And both have their issues and growth, especially Redford who is growing more comfortable in his skin and communicating. (I heart Redford's POV and how he registers and interprets new things.) Jed and Redford's relationship, and how they interact and learn to lean on each other are my favorite parts of both books.

In comparison to the schmoopiness of Jed and Redford, David and Victor's relationship seemed more pale and way more emo. (Which was by intention. At times, David looked upon J&R's closeness and felt both pangs of annoyance and jealousy for the intimacy they so easily shared.) Because one pair was so more intensely felt than the other, I felt less connected to David and Victor and their progression, so some events later in the book didn't cut as deeply for me.

Recommended if you enjoyed Blood Howl, and I look forward to any further adventures with Jed and Redford, especially as they iron out more their working partnership dynamic along with their relationship. And my guess from the breadcrumbs in this book, we may see further developments on the David and Victor front as well in future installments.

still great characters

I have really enjoyed both of these two books (Blood in the Sand, and its predecessor Blood Howl). Both of them make use of appealing characters and strong prose to grab readers and keep them hooked.

I said it in my review of Blood Howl, and I'll say it again -- I love these characters! They may start out with "typical" PNR fare -- the ex-military mercenary, the werewolf, the vampire filled with regrets -- but then the authors bring us new and exciting *people* to fill those standard roles. These guys aren't just cardboard cutouts. They are complicated, and imperfect, and multi-faceted. And the relationships between the characters are likewise many-layered and ever-changing. Great work there.

And also as in the first book, Saxon and Kidwell write with good, strong, evocative prose. Definitely a step or two above the normal erotic romance/PNR fare. It's much easier to get involved in both the action and the drama of a story, when the authors actually know how to use the English language.

Unfortunately, ALSO as in the first book, the authors haven't worked out all their plotting problems. The plot is better here, with fewer obvious plot holes and fewer Really Dumb Things done by the main characters. But the problems are still there. IMHO the characters and prose make up for the inadequacies of the plot, but that will depend on your personal tastes to decide.

All in all, a very enjoyable read. Do read Blood Howl first. This is not one of those romance "series" that uses different main characters every time, this is very much an ongoing story with ongoing characters. If you like great character work, you'll enjoy these.

edited to add -- After reading someone else's review, I thought I should add another line or two. Specifically: this story is NOT all sunshine and roses. If you want a typical "romance" where everybody comes out smiling in the end, this isn't the book for you. This book doesn't mangle the plot just to give everyone instant HEAs; even though this is paranormal, these authors are much more "realistic" than that. And, also, this is a series -- so there's no telling what might happen in future books. So adjust your expectations before purchasing!

Very Enjoyable

I was ecstatic to see more of Jed and Redmond. Not forgetting Knieval either. The story had me cheering and then my brows wrinkling in confusion in some places. But overall I loved it I am hoping more stories will follow as the characters are to good and both authors have an excellent sense of how two loners make an awesome team. Well done and thankyou.
